Gunstone Gathering – Preview

If you fancy an excellent local and family friendly live music festival this weekend then check out The Gunstone

This weekend sees the third in the now regular series of Dorset based live music events with what is looking like a superb line up of local bands.

It doesn't seem like a year but it's time already for the fantastic Gunstone Gathering in Wimborne.

Saturday's live music is headlined by Gunstone regulars Black Water County who stormed the place last year and return with even more material (and band members). This is a set not to miss.

Also keenly anticipated are Worry Dolls. This band are truly fine quality, fronted by the powerful voice of Emma Baldry their sets never disappoint. Worth the entrance money alone.

One of the great things about this festival is that they support up and coming bands and it's great to see Power Thief and Yoofs on the bill. They are both worth a look.

It's such a good bill that it is difficult to pick out the stand out artists but I'm also looking forward to the talents of All about Tobe and Kaia Viera, two of the better quality acts on the local music scene.

Sunday features the talents of Shaun Gary Palmer. I'm not sure whether he'll be doing his music or spoken word pieces or a combination of both but you can expect intelligent, thoughtful lyricism from the local lad.

Southampton band Faux grace the festival with their presence in the afternoon. If you are a lover of the music of Big Deal then you'll like their indie sound

The festival is closed by local favourites The Jimmy Hillbillies in what is sure to be a storming end to the weekend.

This is a wonderfully friendly local festival. It's a safe area for kids to run around and parents can keep an eye on them whilst listening to the music. There's also loads to do from bouncy castles to woodworking and a vintage clothes stall.

Camping is basic but pretty carefree, pitch where you like.

If you are on a budget you'll like this event as it's fine value at £20 for a whole weekend including camping or a fiver for a day ticket. Small people accompanied by an adult and under 18 get in for 1p.
