Sunny delight at Henfest
What better what to finish off the best week of the year weather wise than taking the short trip to Henfest in Wimborne?
The festival, designed as a charity fundraiser for cystic fibrosis takes place over Friday and Saturday and is so popular it's now sold out.
Small and friendly, the site sits close to Julians bridge giving a beautiful vista across the fields to the minster.
We turned up a bit late, missing the first acts sadly, and walked into an excellent performance by Palms and Pelicans.
The guys are part of a fashionable Wolf Alice/Big Deal style indie sound and it was a good introduction to the proper music vibe of the event
Next up the wonderful Quinns Quinney, a band who seem to increase in numbers every time I see them.
Testing out the very reasonably priced beer selection (plus fruit based drinks for the ladies) we sat and enjoyed the mashup of covers played on everything from banjo to watering can.
Of particular note here has to be a segue between 5ive, The Spice Girls and Fresh Prince.
and you can't beat a bit of Lonnie Donnegan.
Headliners for the night were Ratrace.
Having gone through a variety of line up changes I hadn't seen the band for a while but I was to be pleasantly surprised.
They brought forth an awesome set list that included a wide variety of my personal ska favourites that went on for a good hour and a half without a break.
Ended up dancing with Matt off that Empire Affair. Hmm.
as we sloped away I shot a couple of pics of people juggling fire/ accidentally setting fire to people and we mooched off home, reflecting on how convenient it is to have a great live music festival right on our doorstep.
Can't wait for Saturday!
