Wimborne Guitar Festival
8th - 10th August
Here's an interesting one - three days dedicated to the art of the public saxophone.
Wimborne had a history of putting on quirky and original festivals and this looks like it'll be no exception.
There's guitar workshops, public performances and you can even learn how to play a geetar. Awesome.
O’Neills music Festival
8th -10th August
At the risk of causing a diary clash this one looks good too.
Land of the pretend Oirish - O'Neills in the town centre are holding a live music festival.
To be fair (to be sure) they've got a damned fine line up with all of your local favourites including;
Bonsai Pirates, Worry Dolls,Hello Hawaii, Krista Green,Xander & The Keys,4 Go Mad and many more
Black Water County EP release
For lovers of rock infused folk and a rollicking good time, Black Water County have been making waves in the local area for the last year.
Now they are adding recording to their list of achievements and you can be part of a little slice of history by turning up at Ferndown's Barrington Theatre.
Ably supported by Southern Corruption and taking place on Andy L Smooths' birthday it promises to be a cracking event
Only a fiver to get in as well
End of the trail records showcase
In a month of strong line ups this one stands out.
Billed as a scouting showcase for unsigned bands this night at The Winchester promises to be one of the local gigs of the year.
- Empire Affair - Cracking new band with some newly recorded material see what we thought here
- Soulhole - A great band that only just missed out in the Best in Bournemouth competition
- Lyrical Monsoon - top quality hip hop band with a humourous side we liked them a lot
- Kaia Viera - as beautiful as she is talented I'm looking forward to hearing her live
- Jack Grace - People in the know are tipping JG to be a big thing in the world of indie Find out if they are right
Find a band to buy a ticket cos they're a quid cheaper but to be fair at £5 on the door you'll have a job finding better value in your local poundland
Purbeck Folk Festival
August 21st -24th
Theres a great festival of folk occurring over in West Daarset this month. The line up is frankly incredible with internationally famous acts such as Eddie Reader,Idlewild and Lloyd Cole and loads of more local bands such as The Mother Ukers, Jimmy Hillbilles and Beth Johnstone.
I'm particularly looking forward to seeing Coco and the Butterfields again who were immense at Larmer Tree
Rock at The Anvil
Finishing off the month in style we like the 'turning it up to 11' ness of the Anvils event. Comprising Karma to burn, Desert Storm, XII bore and the debut outing for Thuum it sound like a cracking night for only £9 (in adv)
