Why Errol Brown’s Hot Chocolate were a far stranger group than they are given credit for

They are known for their pop-disco hits, but there was something dark and peculiar in the best of Hot Chocolate’s music

Errol Brown is probably one of the most recognisable faces (and voices) of the 70s and 80s British disco scene.

Sadly Errol, frontman of Hot Chocolate has passed away at the age of 71

There will no doubt be a lot of tributes on the web over the next few days but my eye was caught by this interesting analysis by the Guardian of the back catalogue of Hot Chocolate which suggests that their output had a bit more depth than we may think

I never met Errol but his smiling face forms  part of the backdrop of my youth and it's sad to see someone who seems so familiar pass on.

Coming on top of the loss of Ben E. King and the news about BB King its turning out to be a real bummer of a week.
